Search our library catalogue by clicking here. You can search for new items, reserve them and renew items you already have on loan (prior to the due date).  You can even check your own borrower history and alter your borrower details. Click here if you want to try our new simplified Kids Catalogue.

Computer catalogues (with easy to use instructions) are located near the library circulation desk for your use. The library catalogue consists of items from the TAFE SA Berri Campus, Berri Public Library, Barmera Public Library and Glossop High School campuses (both Senior and Middle school).

One computer can be used to access the LEARN catalogue which lists all items in TAFE libraries in SA. Catalogues of other TAFE SA Library Resource Centres are accessible at

Computers

There are a number of computers available in the library for word processing etc. Bookings are not required. Facilities are available for Desktop Publishing including a colour scanner, wax colour printer and a CD Burner. We do ask that you pay 20 cents per B&W page and $1.10 per colour page for any printing you do while using them. A4 size paper is available at the circulation desk. CD-ROMs are for sale from circulation desk for $3.30 each.

Free Internet Access (Including Wireless)

The library has free Internet access on four computers and is a Wireless Internet Hotspot. One hour and half hour timeslots may be booked at the Circulation desk. We ask that under 18 users complete an Internet Use Agreement form before accessing the Internet in the library for the first time. Please respect this agreement at all times.

A full copy of the agreement can be accessed on the Public Net Web site.

The Berri Library & Information Centre offers wireless connection to the public libraries ‘free’ Internet service. If you are bringing in your own laptop or PDA and wish to use our Internet connection you will need:
- To register to use the wireless access and obtain your login and password
- A wireless network interface card, 802.11b or 802.11g
- To configure your laptop to use the Library's Internet connection
- Compatible headphones if you plan to use audio files

Colour Photocopier

A colour photocopier is available for use in the library. Please purchase photocopying cards from the front desk ($2.20 and $5.50 cards are available - includes GST). Receipts will be supplied on request. Students that are currently attending an accredited educational course are not required to pay GST for photocopying course related materials.
Prices for photocopying are:-
- 20 cents - black & white A4 (+ GST)
- 40 cents - black & white A3 (+ GST)
- $1.00 - colour A4  (+ GST)
- $2.00 - colour A3  (+ GST)

Children's Activities

A free storytelling and craft activity is available for under 5's every Thursday between 10.30-11.30am. Free storytelling and craft activities continue on Thursdays between 10.30-11.30am during school holidays. Activities are designed for school age children to 12 years old. Younger children may need some parental assistance with the activities. No bookings are required. See our 'What's New' pages for a current programme

All registered Berri Library & Information Centre customers can access a number of subscription based databases via the World Wide Web.

Most of these databases require a Username and/or Password before access will be granted. Please refer to the database descriptions and access details below. Phone the Berri Library on 8595-2666 if you require assistance.

Gale Health & Wellness Resource Center & Alternative Health Module (back)

Description: Use this Resource Center to find magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions, directories, and information on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, Prescription Drugs, Herbal remedies, and alternative or complementary treatments, etc. Included are links to diet, cancer, and health assessment sites as well as government databases. Material contained in this dates from 1997 and is meant for informational use only.

Description: The Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre combines Australia and New Zealand specific magazines, newspapers & newswires, reference books, and company information to create the largest collection of regional full text content available to schools, public libraries, and academic institutions. This database provides local perspectives on current events, business, sports, and many other subjects. Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre also contains international magazines, reference books, newspapers & newswires.

Description:
World Book Online is an online encyclopedia including “Research Tools” with a Dictionary, Atlas, Explore Australia, Explore the World, Today in History options. A “Create and Save” section offers My Research, Pathfinders, Citation Builder and Timeline organiser. “In the Headlines” gives updates on news issues and a “Primary Sources” tab offers links to e-books. “Your Most Viewed Articles” will store journal searches and articles for future reference and has email or print options. There are also links to World Book Advanced, World Book Kids and a Spanish Language Encyclopaedia

Description: The Tumblebook Library is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) TumblePuzzles, TumbleQuizzes and TumbleResources.  Tumblebooks are created from existing picture books which have been licensed from children's book publishers and converted to TumbleBook format.

Periodicals

The periodical collection covers a wide range of interests and subject areas. Titles are included to support TAFE studies and Senior High School subjects as well as general interest topics for public borrowers. Current issues are not for loan until release of the next issue. "Choice" magazine is available for use in the library only and all back issues are kept behind the circulation desk. CDs that accompany magazines are also kept at the desk. Magazines are available for a two week loan period.
